Let’s Take a Look at the Wonderful World of Jewelry

Jewelry, or Smykker, has always enjoyed a big role in history, so much so that certain Jewels have become symbols of certain countries. Take the Crown Jewels, for example. These pieces of Jewelry have represented their respective countries for centuries. They were worn by the kings and queens who used to govern the country and are passed along as heirlooms to the descendants. These pieces of jewelry are decked with so much history that they rightly deserve their place.

Of course, being worth a large fortune may be a contributing factor too. But Jewelry does not have to be worth a fortune for it to be called as such.

In fact, the term Jewelry encompasses a wide range of items. There are, after all, several different types of jewelry made of a number of different materials. The only common characteristic that all pieces of Jewelry in the world have in common is that their main purpose is as ornaments made to be used on the body.

There are many different types of Jewelry, the most common being necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets. There are also some others that are less popular than others such as anklets and brooches. There are some, yet, that have just recently become popular such as nose rings, navel rings, and some of the other more liberated ornaments. Some of these more interesting forms of jewelry are not exactly new, as they have been used by some old tribes.

If there are many types of Jewelry, there are at least a hundred times as many materials for making them. Stones and pebbles were among the first materials to be used for jewelry.

But of course, you can’t expect them to be worth a lot. The more expensive types of jewelry are the ones made of gold, silver, or any other costly metal. They can be made exclusively of a single material or a mix of two or more. More valuable yet are those pieces of jewelry that have precious stones in them such as rubies and, most precious of all, diamonds.
